I run two businesses and I am still in both of them every day.
The first is ROAVR Group, an arboricultural and ecology consultancy in Inverness. Real staff, real customers, a phone that rings. We help over two thousand people a year get their planning applications moving, and I have been doing it for twenty odd years.
The second is Loqui, where we build AI voice agents for UK businesses. That one only exists because of a problem in the first one.
I was spending around £250,000 a year generating enquiries. One day I pulled the call logs. We were missing a chunk of them. Not at night, which is what I expected. During the day, while everybody was already on the phone. Those people don't leave a voicemail and wait. They ring the next company on the list. So I was paying good money to generate leads and then handing them to my competitors.
So I built something. Then other people started asking for it.
I am not a consultant who has never run anything. I learned all of this the hard way, in my own businesses first, so that you do not have to.
